Vinegar Syndrome specializes in the masterful restoration and distribution of cult, horror, and erotic films from the 1960s-90s.

When the FBI learns of an international counterfeiting operation being run through a Hong Kong newspaper, they send one of their leading agents, Cindy, undercover as a reporter in order to investigate. Upon arriving in Hong Kong, Cindy quickly becomes a headline herself after being photographed by a rival tabloid saving a child from a burning building. It doesn't take long for the criminals to realize what is happening and soon they are after Cindy and her good friend Judy. To make matters worse, Judy's father is the lead prosecutor trying to convict the head of the counterfeiting ring and the criminals will stop at nothing to remove him from the case. With the help of a few new friends, Cindy soon finds herself facing off against a wave of henchmen and hitmen all hellbent on stopping her from exposing the truth.

  • 2024 Media Sales UK Blu-ray (rated 22/05/2024) titled PRIVATE LESSONS

Presumably the cuts are along the lines of the previously cut UK releases.

The BBFC commented:

This work required compulsory cuts to indecent images of children.

The plot centres on a ruse in which an older woman working as a housekeeper seduces a 15-year-old boy in an attempt to steal his father's money. There are scenes in which the woman takes advantage of the boy's sexual curiosity and manipulates the feelings that he develops for her, leading to the two being intimate and eventually sleeping together. In one sequence, a woman feigns death during sex with the teenager, which includes bloody detail. The latter and other sexual scenes place emphasis on female breast and buttock nudity. Other sexually abusive and sexist behaviour involves teenage boys leering at women, sometimes in states of undress, through bedroom windows, binoculars and from photographs. Although the treatment of these issues can be considered as a reflection of the time period in which the film is set, the behaviour is not clearly condemned.

UK: Passed 18 after 3:20s of previous BBFC cuts were repeated prior to submission for:

  • 2006 Cinema Club Video

No further BBFC cuts were made when re-submitted in 2006. However the version submitted was pre-cut to eliminate the same material as the previous version. The increased running time is additional, uncontentious footage.

UK: Passed 18 after 3:20s of BBFC cuts for:

  • 1992 Braveworld VHS
  • 1987 CIC VHS
  • 1982 cinema release

The BBFC cuts were:

  • Cuts were made in several scenes under the Protection of Children Act. Basically every shot where you could see Kristel's nudity and the boy in the same shot was removed. The scenes affected were the striptease, the bath scene and the two sex scenes. In the storyline the boy was meant to be 15 years old

But just to let you know, it has been altered from the version, which is on VHS tape. It has also been revealed that Silvia Kristal had a body double, her name is Judy Helden. However, Ms. Helden only appears in two scenes in the movie, and they are not the famous scenes which those of us in the 35 to 40 age group, who love the movie all know. Miss Helden's scenes appear towards the end of the movie, where we see aroused nipples on a breast, in one shot of the backside that does not match up with Sylvia Kristal's.

IFCO cinema G

UK: BBFC PG rated for mild rude humour for mild rude humour after BBFC category cuts:
  • 2024 Artificial Eye Film Co. cinema release (rated 30/01/2024)

The BBFC commented:

The company obscured rude gestures in order to achieve their preferred category of PG. An uncut 12A classification was available.

Thanks to Jon:

The BBFC were initially set to give the film an uncut 12A rating. However, when Artificial Eye heard the film was going to be a 12A, it was Artificial Eye who said they wanted a PG, because the film would be ideal for younger kids, as the film was due to be released during the February school Half-Term. It was at that point, that the BBFC stated to Artificial Eye, that if they wanted a PG, the middle finger gesture would need to be removed.

Artificial Eye went back to the director, explained the situation, and between him and Artificial Eye, they agreed that the best solution would be to animate a black rectangle over the offending moment, so that adults would still get the joke, but kids would not, and the censorship would appease the BBFC without any cuts being made to the film's duration.

The animators added-in the black rectangle, the film was resubmitted, and the film was passed with the new censored middle finger scene as a PG.

The film could easily have been left uncut with a 12A, and it would not have affected anything. But the distributor stupidly wanted a kid-friendly rating, despite the fact most kids couldn't follow the film and didn't find it especially entertaining. So Artificial Eye really ballsed-up here.

Thanks to Scott, Jake and Chris.

The rude gesture was in fact the robot showing his middle finger when copying members of a street gang. The director was involved in deciding how to obscure the gesture by covering it up. The solution to cover up the gesture with a black strip proved more than acceptable as it gets a laugh from viewers realising that the robot is making the gesture and that this has been censored.

The feature debut of director Frank Henenlotter ( Brain Damage , Frankenhooker ), 1982's Basket Case is a riotous and blood-spattered "midnight movie" experience, now presented for the first time ever on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray.

Duane Bradley seems like a pretty ordinary guy. His formerly conjoined twin Belial, on the other hand, is a deformed creature who lives in a wicker basket. Arriving in the Big Apple and taking up a room at a seedy hotel, the pair set about hunting down and butchering the surgeons responsible for their separation.

Filmed on a shoestring budget against the backdrop of 1980s New York (where it played on the midnight movie circuit for over two-and-a-half years), =Basket Case has clawed its way from its humble origins to become one of the most celebrated cult movies of all time.

Ripped from the pages of Robert E. Howard's beloved pulp stories, and brought to the screen by maverick director John Milius, =Conan the Barbarian is one of the most beloved fantasy-action adventures in Hollywood history, which not only popularized a new subgenre -- the sword-and-sorcery film -- but also made a cinematic icon of its star, former bodybuilding sensation Arnold Schwarzenegger.

In an ancient land, young Conan witnesses his family being slaughtered by an evil snake cult ransacking his village. Raised as a slave, the adult Conan (Schwarzenegger) rises up through the fighting pits, becoming an unparalleled and fearsome warrior. Unexpectedly freed, Conan and his companions -- two fighters, Subotai (Gerry Lopez) and Valeria (Sandahl Bergman), as well as a Wizard (Mako) -- are enlisted by King Osric (Max von Sydow) to free his daughter from the hypnotic clutches of the same cult that murdered Conan's family long ago, led by the shape-shifting sorcerer Thulsa Doom (James Earl Jones).

Praise Crom! At long last, Milius' glorious ode to the days of high adventure (co-written by Oliver Stone) has been restored in stunning 4K with hours of bonus features and a heart-racing Atmos remix that immerses you in the action, accompanied throughout by an electrifying, career-best score by the late Basil Poledouris (RoboCop). UK: BBFC A (PG) rated after BBFC category cuts:
  • 1964 Anglo Amalgamated cinema release (rated 04/06/1964)

Thanks to Vince. The BBFC cuts list read:

  • Reel 5 - Remove the words "more than enough for a fat man with a very small dossier."

  • Reel 6 - Remove Daphne's line "Most men find her very exciting" and ensuing conversation in which she whispers to the fat man and he replies, resuming on "Let me see your shimmy."

From IMDb:

A scene - apparently now lost - shows Agent Bind stopping to feed money into a fruit machine as the other recruits are escaping the fun house. It would seem that all existing prints of "Spying" now fade out just before this occurs but there is anecdotal evidence suggesting that this full version had been shown on British TV at least once during the 70s.

THE FIRST MOTION PICTURE BASED ON HISTORICAL FACTS ABOUT THE RISE AND REVOLT OF SLAVERY IN AMERICA!

The film considered too shocking for the world! Written, edited, produced and directed by Gualtiero Jacopetti and Franco Prosperi of MONDO CANE fame, this epic recreation of the American slave trade atrocities was both condemned as depraved exploitation and acclaimed as an unprecedented cry of Black anguish and rage. The Detroit Chronicle hailed it as "a graphic, moving, nerve-paralyzing film." Legendary film critic Pauline Kael called it "the most specific and rabid incitement of the race war." It became one of the most reviled and misunderstood films of its time. Five decades cannot diminish GOODBYE UNCLE TOM's impact or quiet its controversy as it has become even more relevant TODAY!

In 1971, distributors forced the filmmakers to completely re-cut the film and radically re-write its extreme narration, removing more than 13 minute of race-war politics and inserting alternate scenes - creating what would become an entirely different film - before it could be released. Now more than 50 years later, both versions of GOODBYE UNCLE TOM can finally be seen in brand-new restorations, scanned in 4K 16-bit from their original negatives, with Dolby Vision HDR & newly restored DTS-HD Master Audio, and packed with over 5 hours of Extras!

UK: Uncut and BBFC 18 rated for strong bloody violence:

Dubbed the sex symbol of the silver screen, Anita Ekberg , renowned for her iconic frolicking in the Trevi Fountain in Fellini's La Dolce Vita , delivers an amazing powerhouse performance in THE KILLER NUN . In an interview exclusive to this edition, Ekberg reveals her frustration with subsequent "bombshell" typecasting, expressing a preference for working on films like Killer Nun and boldly declaring, "This is the kind of film I like!"

Originally banned as a Video Nasty , Killer Nun is a true "Nunsploitation" great, which uniquely crosses into the Giallo genre. Presented here uncut and pristinely restored from a 2K scan of the camera negative, this release finally does justice to the uninhibited and frenzied vision of its creator. With impressive high-style photography and vivid, deliciously surreal murders, it is superbly enhanced by the dreamy yet dystopian score of Alessandro Alessandroni (immortalised by his twangy guitar and his legendary whistling in Sergio Leone's westerns ). The music itself is a manic masterpiece.

Based on a true story, Ekberg's tour-de-force performance portrays a nun who turns junkie and engages in robbery, possibly torture and murder of pensioners in a Church-run Elderly Care Home - all while luring young nuns with her sapphic desires! The Nun is abetted by a hunky doctor played by Andy Warhol's superstar protégé, Joe D'Alessandro (lionised as "Little Joe" in Lou Reed's famed Walk On The Wild Side ).

Though it arrived near the end of the cycle, it remains the most satisfyingly depraved - yet least-seen - old-school slasher in Ozploitation history: Someone is butchering students at St. Elizabeth's Girls School, complete with gratuitous nudity, graphic gore, obnoxious teens, creepy cuckolds, barbed wire garroting, '80s Aussie glam-metal band Vice, an acid-flinging nun and heaps more. From the producers of 'Doctor Zhivago' comes a film that finally reveals URSULA ANDRESS in all her glory!

Voted the TOP BOND GIRL of all time, Ursula Andress made cinematic history when she emerged from the sea in that bikini. Not only was this iconic scene crowned "No1 of the 100 Greatest Sexy Screen-Moments" and earned Andress a Golden Globe, but it

heralded a new generation of women who wanted and expected more: the 'sexual revolution' had started.

Ever wondered what she looks like without that bikini? Well, wonder no more and reach for The Nurse! Andress stars as The Sensuous Nurse, spending most of this romp-com undressed.

Screen legend Jack Palance (City Slickers) plays an American tycoon aiming to buy a vineyard in the beautiful Italian Veneto. But the

hitch is that the aging owner won't sign, despite his madcap family's eagerness to sell and get rich.

The old man, recovering from a bonk-induced heart attack, is a randy lecher. So, the family's outrageous stratagem is to hire Nurse

Andress, not to cure the old boy, but for her to... ahem... undress and, hopefully, induce another - this time fatal - cardiac arrest.

It's all barmy, fizzy fun, and the clincher? A SECOND Bond Girl! Luciana Paluzzi, the one in skin-tight black leathers on the rocket launching motorbike in 'Thunderball'. Here without leathers. Or anything.

Special Features:

  • Complete and Uncut, restored from 2K scan
  • Interview with Director Nello Rossati and Set & Costume Designer on working with Bond lovelies
  • New English subtitles on the alternative Italian track
