This horror/zombie film has been passed at '18' as a video, without cuts. The original cinema version was passed uncut as an 'X' in 1981. An unclassified video version was, however, circulated
which was prosecuted in 1984/5 under Section 2 of the Obscene Publications Act. Early cases resulted in guilty pleas or convictions; but the last 9 cases all resulted in acquittals. Nevertheless, when the video version was submitted to the BBFC in 1990,
cuts were required to an early sequence in which a photographer is attacked and burned to death by a mob of zombies, and to a very brief shot of a plaster-covered patient being stabbed in the eye by a zombie nurse with a syringe.
In 1999, the video no longer compares in terms of its 'horror' effects with more recent popular successes such as SCREAM, the HALLOWEEN series, WISHMASTER or SPECIES 2.
The Board has therefore
concluded that audiences are unlikely to suffer any harm from viewing the video, and that it may be released at '18'.

After one too many encounters with The Spiders (a rival gang), The Ravens' leader's girlfriend tells him to quit the gang or it's Splitsville. He

The last twenty or so minutes of Deadbeat at Dawn consists of one slam-bang scene after another, scenes guaranteed to warm the heart of the most fervent action film aficionados.
few of the performances go over the
top, especially Bone Crusher's misanthropic soliloquy on murder, but most of these amateur actors do a competent job. Yep, Deadbeat at Dawn is a worthwhile experience for the lover of low budget cinema.

The video was submitted by Dave Gregory from the Exploited VHS label in 1998 and he made it absolutely clear that Whittam Smith was personally responsible for the ban. The story goes like this:
I submitted Deadbeat at Dawn back in July hoping to release it alongside Vigilante . The BBFC sent me a not entirely unexpected cuts list for Deadbeat totalling two minutes of footage. I made around fifty
cuts to remove all sight of chain sticks and throwing stars exactly as they requested. Most of the gore in the film passed unnoticed.
I resubmitted the film and started sending out preview copies, printed the
sleeves, and ran a couple of ads, under the foolish assumption that because I had cut what they asked the film would be approved. Not so. Ferman watched it and through his secretary informed me that there was a problem with the violence in the film. A
discussion was to be staged on the matter two days after the original release date: Oct. 26th. According to Ferman, opinions were split among the examiners.
Then Whittam Smith entered the room, overruled all
discussion and declared that the film was to be rejected. Democratic discussion! Anyway, Ferman said they didn't want to issue another cuts list and that I could submit a toned down version if I wanted to. He had this impression of the film reaching a
massive audience of impressionable. I told him that he ought to consider, in future, the actual market for a film of this type. 1500 units max! Not a huge blockbuster by any account, but a healthy specialist market.

Never cut by censors but there are 2 versions, with one version omitting a questionable demonic coda.
Summary Review: A Good Effort
A good effort from Wes Craven, having an eerie
and at times claustrophobic atmosphere. It is set in an Amish like community but altogether more menacing.
Two women outsiders join their friend, the wife of a suspiciously killed member of the mysterious community.
Strangers aren't appreciated in the community and any minor moral transgression seems to to cause nasty things to happen courtesy of a local incubus.
There are some scary moments in this film but also some well-worn
cliches.
The demonic ending seems a bit tagged on, and has in fact been left off in the past out of choice.

While it's not great, it was quite enjoyable in the way typical Hong Kong actioners are. Sibelle Hu, an actress who HK film fans should be quite familiar with, makes a small appearance in this film. The cover is misleading, the main
character in this film is played by Maria Jo.
Maria Jo is featured prominently throughout this film, but her action scenes involve mostly gunplay, and those scenes, while not wholly elaborate, are quite well done and
pretty entertaining. She even has a short fight with Sibelle Hu where she holds her own martial arts wise, even though Sibelle is obviously more skilled, and she makes a really exciting escape from the top of a building.
While this film doesn't compare to the guns and bullets films of John Woo (which is a good thing for some, bad for others), it is pretty entertaining in that sense. So LP1 is good for fans of HK gun actioners, but don't expect much martial arts action here. Although the few scenes Sibelle Hu is in are pretty good in terms of martial arts choreography, the rest of this movie is all gun fighting, and it's quite well done, in the cheesy over the top HK film tradition.

Complaints to the BBFC, outlined in the BBFC Annual Report covering 2016:
The film Deadpool
generated the largest amount of public feedback in2016, with 51 complaints.
Some viewers were concerned about the level of violence in the film. The BBFC responded that the violence is strong and frequently bloody, this often
occurs during fast-paced action sequences with little focus on detail. There is also a comic tone to the violence, and the film's fantastical setting further distances it from reality.
The BBFC also received complaints about sex
references and strong language in Deadpool. The BBFC responded that though strong sex references do occur throughout thefilm, most of these are in the form of comic verbal quips or innuendo. Deadpool contains frequent use of strong language ('fuck',
'motherfucker'). However, there is no upper limit on the number of uses of strong language at 15.The sex references and language are therefore acceptable at the classification.
Pre-release hype
The
movie was much talked about for breaking the PG-13 superhero norm and going with an R rating. There was also a little hype about a bar scene that was too offensively vulgar for an R rating.
The director later said that he was happy with the final
theatrical version and wouldn't be inserting deleted material back into the film. This material may be included as DVD/Blu-ray extras though.

There's going to be a version of the DVD that's all
new jokes, the entire movie, including the now-infamous killing baby Hitler scene.
David Leitch confirmed that his director's assembly cut included 12-minutes of deleted scenes.
[ Spoilers! hover
or click text below]
These include a montage of different suicide attempts by Wade Wilson after his girlfriend Vanessa (Morena Baccarin) dies.
The suicide scene is in there, and there's a scene in the mansion in the
kitchen over breakfast, Leitch added. There's some extra Domino stuff. There's a lot of fun little bits, and then a lot of alts! We're looking for every place we can put an alt.
We had a scene in the kitchen in the X Mansion,
which is one of our favorites, confirmed Rhett Reese. You see Deadpool say 'ejaculated into a soap dispenser a hero,' and Colossus goes (smells fingers). There's an earlier scene where they're in the kitchen and Colossus is trying to get the soap
dispenser to work. And he's like, 'This won't work.' And Deadpool's like, 'Just give it a few extra pumps. I just filled it.' The kitchen scene was fun. He's labeling stuff in the refrigerator as he was told to do. And so he's putting Velcro labels on,
and Negasonic Teenage Warhead is not buying his go-straight routine. She's like, 'I see through you, you're still full of shit.' It was fun.
This longer cut comes with almost 15 minutes of additional runtime and
offers a lot of differences. The extended action scenes (e.g. the Yakuza sauna) are a clear benefit for viewers. The additional character scenes are a nice extra but they don't present many groundbreaking details. On the other hand, The Theatrical

US: The studio has produced a cut PG-13 version which is MPAA rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and action, crude sexual content, language, thematic elements and brief drug material:
2019 20th Century Fox RA Blu-ray/DVD Combo
Once Upon a Deadpool retained its 15 rating in the UK but the BBFC consumer advice demonstrates that it has been toned down. The original Theatrical Version was passed 15 uncut for strong bloody violence, sex references, very strong language, whilst Once Upon a Deadpool was passed 15 for
strong violence, crude humour. So it seems that blood has been deleted from the violence, sex references have been removed, and strong language has been cut.
The BBFC commented in its annual report covering 2018:
In an attempt to make Deadpool 2 available to a wider audience, the company subsequently submitted an edited version, Once Upon a Deadpool, which contains new elements and which is softened in terms of tone and content: very strong language was removed;
strong language was largely bleeped; bloodier moments were reduced; and sex references were toned down.
Australia: Rated M which would be named as a PG-15 in US terms
New Zealand: The cinema release initially adopted
the Australian M rating but during the release the chief censor called it in and replaced this with an R13 rating which is a straight minimum age restriction.
Despite all the tongue-in-cheek charm surrounding this new framework story, it also
becomes clear how extensively Deadpool 2 had to be toned down for the this harmless version. Several times a minute, dialogues were cleaned up of vulgar language and replaced with softer vocabulary, alternative footage was used or the blood or bullet
holes were digitally removed.

Summary Review: Watchable
A Birmingham band are ordered by their unhappy record company to an old warehouse, with the goal being to re-start their
careers with a kick-ass new promo video. Unfortunately they find themselves the target of a mysterious knife-wielding maniac in this bloody British slasher!
Just about watchable seems the consensus view on Amazon
Cuts required to a scene of sexual and sexualised violence, in this case a woman being stabbed between the legs with a blade.
The BBFC further detailed the cuts in its Annual Report:
Deadtime is a British fi lm which includes a prolonged sequence in which a killer terrorises a bare breasted woman before stabbing her. The sequence is intercut
with a consensual sex scene. Cuts were required to remove sexualised moments of violence, including:
a knife being traced between the woman's breasts,
a knife being thrust up between her legs, and
close up shots of blood pouring down between her thighs.
The BBFC's strict policy on sexual violence meant the film could not be passed uncut, but with the cuts made it was classified 18.
Deadtime Stories is a 1986 USA comedy horror by Jeffrey Delman. Starring Scott Valentine, Nicole Picard and Matt Mitler.
Cut by the BBFC for 18 rated VHS in 1986. Presumably the same version is 18
rated for 2018 Blu-ray. Also cut in the US for an MPAA R rating. The film has yet to be released uncut.
Summary Notes

The BBFC did not provide a short Insight statement. This typically means that the BBFC did not reassess the rating and reissued an old rating. To do this the latest submission must be the same as the old version submitted previously.

Summary Review: Total Insanity
A gang of outlaw bikers pull a home invasion on a disgraced
Anthropologist hiding a secret locked in his cabin basement.
Dear God No flaunts its tasteless, violent, psychotic, bizarre excesses in the face of modern politically correct cinema. We get the repeated dead nun crotch punting,
multiple decapitations, lesbian incest rape, Nazis, tampon shots, children being murdered, coke-line swastikas, and anything else you can imagine.
If depraved weirdness and blood-soaked mayhem is your thing, prepare to experience
cinematic nirvana.

The BBFC further commented in its Annual Report:
A Grindhouse inspired horror feature about a violent biker gang. It contains a scene in which the biker gang rapes a pregnant woman. The BBFC required that cuts be made
to remove:
an explicit image of penetration during the rape,
as well as other sexual detail and nudity, and

Summary Review : Excellent Action Movie
Gunnery Sergeant Burns reports for duty to an American Embassy
in the Middle East. However due to the 'enlightened' views of the Ambassador, the marine security detachment he is in charge of is severely restricted in their functions and presence to avoid upsetting the host government. As a result, when terrorists
attack the compound, they are able to kidnap hostages and escape with little opposition. Burns ignores the Ambassador's restrictions, and throws the rule books out the window, as he becomes a one man army in an attempt to rescue the hostages, and wipe
out the terrorists.
Excellent action sequences as this one is directed by Terry Leonard (stunt co-ordinator in many action movies). The lovely Joanna Pacula co-star as a journalist. After the Sep 11 event, watching movie
about heroes kicking terrorists is a nice relief. It is great to see this B title appear on DVD. Worth getting it

Summary Notes
A champion of a brutal cross-country car race of the
future where pedestrians are run down for points has a change of heart while being hounded by rivals and a conspiracy seeking to stop the race.
I have nothing but love for his 1975 B-movie triumph Death
Race 2000 (although, to be fair, most of the credit should go to director Paul Bartel). In this brilliant black comedy satire, Corman gives us what we want - fast cars, hot naked gals, and lots of glorified violence, not to mention brilliant
performances by David Carradine and a pre-Rambo Sylvester Stallone - and all with a budget of only 300 grand.
From euthanasia day at the hospital to the wickedly tripped-out cars designed for human
carnage as well as speed, Death Race 2000 is a tour de force of B-movie entertainment. Carradine's amazing, Stallone's a brilliant bonus, the supporting cast make hay with even the smallest of parts, and Simone Griffeth is fun to watch both in and out of
her clothes. Death Race 2000 is the epitome of cult classic.

Summary Review: Messed Up
Delirious, surreal, and savage, Tobe Hooper's follow-up to his landmark debut Texas Chainsaw Massacre, is one of a kind while bearing the same signature stamp he left with his predecessor.
A sheer
unrelenting onslaught of pure madness, macabre and dark humor. Although not as entirely successful as Chainsaw, Eaten Alive is one messed up little drive in flick with good performances particularly by Brand as the psycho Inn keeper of
"Starlight Hotel". Mumbling incoherently through most of his screen time and sputtering gibberish when audible, Neville Brand is eerily convincing.
The beginning of this picture owes to Psycho in that you
meet a character that you are led to believe is the (no pun intended) titular heroine but is quickly dispatched and we are left with the equally sleazy and\or oddball residents of the locale like ole' country boy Buck (Englund, who's a hoot) or that
oddball couple who's dog gets chomped by the gator that lives in the swamp behind the hotel. It's that kind of movie folks so be aware what you're getting into. Creepy, oddball fun.

Summary Review: The thrill of revenge
A New York City architect becomes a one-man vigilante squad after his wife is murdered by street punks in which he randomly goes out and kills would-be
muggers on the mean streets after dark.
We know that vigilanteism is wrong, but the 'thrill' of revenge and harsh punishment dealt out to criminals sure carries a hell of a punch. You may be surprised just how relevant and fresh
the issues are to modern Britain now. Time to remind yourself just how important a film this is

Although the rape scene was still considered offensive and disturbing, the comparative lack of detail and the brevity and discretion with which the nudity is shown, convinced the Board that the
overall effect of the rape scene was to repel and disgust rather than to arouse.
Given that the only real issue with the scene was offensiveness, it was agreed that the scene could be passed at '18'.

The cuts were:
Rape sequence has been cut to remove clear nudity, fondling and a bit where Kersey's daughter has her rear spray painted.
From BBFC case study:
On this occasion the Board was inclined to grant a video certificate on the understanding that a few brief cuts, totalling 29 seconds, were made to remove elements of nudity, including the spray
painting of the buttocks, that had been problematic in the past and which were felt to raise concerns under the Board's strict sexual violence guidelines.
UK:
The video was submitted to the BBFC in 1987. James Ferman wanted cuts but could not see how they could be made without destroying the important scene.
The impasse ended up with the video being withdrawn from the BBFC rather than receiving a formal
ban. But it ended up being unavailable for 13 years anyway.
Richard Falcom of the BBFC said:
It was felt that it would be impossible to allow this kind of exploitative sexual violence to be released on video under the
terms of the video recordings act and the company CIC felt it best in the wake of Hungerford not to distribute it in any form.

Summary Notes
Architect Paul Kersey once
again becomes a vigilante when he tries to find the five street punks who murdered his daughter and housekeeper, this time on the dark streets of Los Angeles.
Death Wish 2 never teases the audience with any notions of greatness.
In spite of the meager attention given to Kersey's character, we root for him anyway; and in spite of the inexplicably-written punks, we hope for their demise. Michael Winner once again gives the film a gritty yet polished look, though he is clearly
directing a flat-out B picture.

Also the daughter afterwards is shown jumping out

Two women were gang-banged by multiple rapists. Ferman referred to this in a recent lecture: I cut three minutes 42 seconds of that stuff, a record I think. Winner was furious.
Re-edited for the scene between Kersey's daughter and Cutter; with BBFC cuts the scene would have jumped from him rubbing her leg to him finishing having sex with her subsequently a scene where Jill Ireland finds an unconscious Bronson was added in
between (in the full version this scene follows the death of Kersey's daughter).
The infamous scene between Rosario and the muggers suffered the following cuts:
The shot of Rosario's knickers being removed was briefly cut.
The shot of Cutter licking her and her reaction is missing.
A view of Jiver removing his trousers is missing as is the cut-aways to him having subsequent sex with Rosario
(the UK version renders this scene a series of reaction shots between the rest of the gang).
The bedroom scene between Rosario, Cutter, Punkcut and Stomper cuts away just after she is on the bed, the uncut version offers several topless shots
and sex scenes with Punkcut and Cutter.
After Jiver has said "don't worry he'll come" the British version cuts to head shots (presumably outtakes) of two to the gang, the uncut version cuts to Stomper having sex with Rosario.
When Nirvana walks into the room the British version cuts away, the uncut version follows it on with rosario crawling across the floor and him removing his trousers.
The death of Rosario is missing several shots of her falling to and in spasms on the floor.

Summary Review: Entertaining
Paul Kersey, New York architect and part-time vigilante, comes to LA to
visit an old friend. Instead, he must avenge his death by fighting youth gangs.
Death Wish 3 is a very different film to it's predecessors, whereas the first two movies were powerful urban drama's about how a man
can be driven over the edge as a result of violence this instalment goes all out as an action movie and disregards the social commentary for the most part.
Whereas in the previous film's Bronson was hunting down muggers
and rapists and disposing of them with his pistol in Death Wish 3 he gets hold of a gattling gun and buys a magnum and a military issue rocket launcher and lays waste to the scum of society by the bulk load. It might not be as realistic but it's
damn entertaining and is by far my favourite of the Death Wish sequels.

Summary review: Bigger Fish
Architect/vigilante Paul Kersey takes on the members of a vicious Los Angeles drug cartel to stop the flow of drugs after his girlfriend's daughter dies from an overdose.
After briefly flirting with the usual Death Wish route of Kersey hitting the streets and blowing away some punks, the script takes a different direction and has Kersey functioning something like a mob hit-man instead. He
has a mysterious benefactor feeding him with information on crime bigwigs instead of the usual hoodlums.
Death Wish 4 certainly isn't unpredictable. But that's not needed in a Death Wish film, anyway. The basic requirement
is for Bronson to be able to kick butt in entertaining and suspenseful ways, and Thompson gives you as much or more bang for your buck on that end as any other film in the series.

Summary
Notes
Chuck Toedan's the host of a gameshow featuring death row convicts competeing in life-or-death contests in hopes of cheating the executioner or, at the very least, winning some nice prizes for their next of kin.
Not surprisingly, Chuck has made more than a few enemies, from outraged viewers trying to ban his show, to families of losing contestants looking for revenge. A hitman hired by one such family has shown up at Chuck's office, and he'll need to enlist the
help of his most outspoken critic to keep from ending up like most of his contestants.

The director shortened the film by removing a lot of the cheesy B movie dialogue and 2 entire scenes, one between Sultana and Evie, and the other with Reena and the Amazon Queen getting a massage.
The film then becomes tighter, faster paced and
more serious. But sometimes it is the light hearted dialogue that makes a B movie worth watching. So some fans at least prefer the long version.
