From the mind of writer/director Clive Barker the macabre visionary responsible for Hellraiser and Candyman comes Nightbreed, a nightmare-induced fantasy set in a world like nothing you ve ever experienced before... one which will leave you questioning who the real monsters are.

By night, Aaron Boone (Craig Sheffer, Teen Wolf) dreams of Midian, a hidden subterranean world where monsters have created a haven from humanity. Under pressure from his girlfriend Lori (Anne Bobby, Born on the Fourth of July), he attends psychotherapy sessions, unaware that his shrink, Dr Decker (Videodrome director David Cronenberg), is setting him up to take the fall for a series of violent murders. Convinced he no longer belongs in the human world, Boone goes in search of Midian not realising that the real killer has plans for both him and the colourful cast of outsiders who call it home...

The victim of studio interference and an unrepresentative marketing campaign, Nightbreed was poorly received by critics on its initial release and failed to ignite the box office, but has since undergone a radical reappraisal. Arrow Video is proud to present two versions of this depraved cult classic: the studio-approved theatrical cut and the reconstructed, reinvigorated director s cut, for the ultimate nightmarish viewing experience.

Suicide among young men is a major issue in Scotland. Connect is an ambitious attempt to confront the issue in a heartfelt drama.

    Summary Notes

'We're waiting to grow old'. This sentence briefly sums up Yaoyun and his wife Liyun's bitter realization about their lives. They were once a happy family - until their son drowned playing by a reservoir. And so Yaojun and Liyun leave their home and plunge into the big city, although nobody knows them there and they cannot even understand the local dialect. Their adopted son Liu Xing does not offer them the comfort they had hoped for either. Defiantly rejecting his 'foreign' parents, he one day disappears altogether. The married couple are repeatedly enmeshed in their memories. Finally, they decide to return to the site of their lost hopes. In this family saga spanning three decades of Chinese history, the private and the political merge and the individual gets caught up in the gears of a society in the throes of constant change. Part melodrama, part critique of the times, this film takes us from the country's upheaval in the 1980s following the Cultural Revolution to the prospering ...

The film was originally 12A rated by local councils for local festival screenings in Hull and Sheffield. However when it was submitted to the BBFC it was rated 15 for strong language.

The film maker Sean McAllister was unsurprisingly not impressed by the BBFC rating and he set out to convince councils that the non aggressive working class use of the word 'fuck' should not need a 15 rating.

Hull, Lambeth, Leeds, Liverpool, Sheffield, Southampton, Hackney, Bradford, Calderdale, Scarborough and Nottingham agreed with McAllister, and awarded the film a local 12A rating.

It was revealed that the film contains about 20 uses of the word 'fuck'.

Conflict also arises when one of his fellow scientists, taking advantage of Heathley's lack of attention toward his wife, Lydia (Phyllis Calvert), makes some moves on her. Then there is the question of just who is the enemy agent on the project. The single-minded Heathly, much to his dismay and little to his credit, uncovers him when he chooses his co-pilot.
