Summary Review: Oz-ploitation
A futuristic prison movie
where anybody who puts a foot out of line is sent for a sadistic bout of 're-education'. The 3 prisoners at the focus of this film are assigned as prey for rich thrill seeking hunters.
This is an extremely gory,
exploitative piece of low budget horror/sci-fi. It also happens to be highly entertaining.

Turkish Delight is a 1973 Netherlands drama romance by Paul Verhoeven. With Monique van de Ven, Rutger Hauer, Tonny Huurdeman.
Cut by the BBFC for 18 rated cinema release in 1973 and VHS releases from
1986 to 1994. Uncut and 18 rated for 2002 DVD.
Summary Review: Essentially Dutch
Starring Rutger Hauer as a gifted Dutch sculptor who has a stormy, erotic, and star-crossed romance with a beautiful
young girl. He meets the girl, falls in love with/marries her, and we meet her parents: a charming, well meaning, bumbling father, and his shrew of a wife, who's convinced Hauer's too much of a bohemian to make a good mate for her daughter. Eventually,
the petty jealousies, the sexual hijinks, and the climactic vomit scene prove too much for the marriage for a while at least
Turks Fruit is truly the epitome of 70's Dutch cinema with it's liberated sex approach that would
echo in several other Dutch films in the 70's and 80's. Very important for Holland but maybe too much for the rest of the world, especially for the rather prudish Hollywood. Essential viewing though for everyone who wants to know something about the
Dutch cinema.

12 Rounds is an action thriller about a cop who has to complete twelve tasks to rescue his kidnapped girlfriend. This extended version of the film was passed '15' for strong violence.
The violence is unrelenting and the film moves from one action sequence to another without let up. Although much of the violence takes the form of car smashes and explosions, with no detail of human injury, there are some stronger sequences. In the
first, a man is stabbed in the stomach by the main villain. We do not see the impact or the injury, but there is a clear close-up on the very bloody blade as it is drawn out. The second strong scene is that in which the villain's girlfriend is,
shockingly, hit by a truck. The impact is swift and undetailed, but we see several mid- and close-up shots of the body lying on the ground, with blood on her face and in a pool on the ground. Finally, a climactic helicopter fight sequence is also bloody
and contains some hard blows, including several impressionistic but crunchy blows to the face. BBFC Guidelines at '12A' state that 'Violence must not dwell on detail. There should be no emphasis on injuries or blood,' and in this case the film is better
placed at '15', where 'Violence may be strong.'
The film also contains two uses of strong language.

This film was originally shown to the BBFC in an unfinished version. The BBFC advised the company that the film was likely to receive a 15 classification but that the requested 12A certificate could be achieved by
making changes to a sex scene between the Edward and Bella characters. In particular the BBFC suggested that more graphic sight of Edward thrusting while he lies on top of Bella, and while her legs are wrapped around his torso, be removed. When the
finished version of the film was submitted these changes had been made, with the scene having been reduced in length and with less focus on full body shots. As a result, the film was classified 12A .

Summary Review: A Suave Hyde
Dr. Henry Jekyll experiments with scientific means of revealing the hidden, dark side of man and
releases a murderer from within himself.
Terence Fisher's film The Two Faces of Dr. Jekyll is one of the most original and underrated adaptations of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr.
Hyde . Unlike in the three previous movies where Jekyll was presented as a young handsome and likable man and Hyde as evil looking ugly monster, here Jekyll is middle-aged bearded and very cold and harsh towards others. Hyde on the other hand is
smooth, handsome player who gets everyone to like him like that. However, he is no less evil then other versions of Hyde.
A dam good story with wit and cautionary observations of the human condition, this isn't one for the blood
and gore brigade.

Summary Review: Not without its charms
After a nuclear
war, society breaks down into two groups, the evil Euraks and the rebel Federation. A mercenary named Parsifal is hired by the Federation to infiltrate New York City
After the success of such movies as The Road Warrior and
Escape From New York, The Italian low-budget movie industry started creating bunches of post-apocalypse movies, much like their famous spaghetti westerns and sword-and-sandal epics. Sometimes, they even came up with a good one. This
is one of those.
The production doesn't skimp on the gore or the grit. This isn't a "splatter" film in the traditional sense, but almost every bloody wound is shown in gory detail.
This may be a
silly and mostly unoriginal 90 or so minutes, but it isn't without its charms. If not taken seriously this is a pretty fun and hilarious experience that keeps delivering the cheesy goods.

Summary Notes
The citizens of the southern town Pleasant Valley lure six Yankee tourists into town where they are to be the reluctant guests for the centennial celebration of the day a band of renegade
Union troops decimated the town. The town then participates in events, a different event for each of the tourists, in which the tourist is dispatched. One couple begins to suspect something and seeks a way to escape.
Not the
goriest of the director's films but an attempt to introduce the weird concept of a plot. Playboy Model Connie Mason doesn't earn many brownie points for acting and she scuppers the idea of having a story.
However the film is
simultaneously repellent and amusing, even endearing. The premise is so zaney, the villians so filled with sadistic glee, the mutilations so glorified, it starts to work on levels that I'm not sure H.G. intended.

"2001" is a story of evolution. Sometime in the distant past, someone or something nudged evolution by placing a monolith on Earth (presumably elsewhere throughout the universe as well). Evolution then enabled humankind to reach the moon's surface, where
yet another monolith is found, one that signals the monolith placers that humankind has evolved that far. Now a race begins between computers (HAL) and human (Bowman) to reach the monolith placers. The winner will achieve the next step in evolution,
whatever that may be.
Note that the longer running times are due to varying additional music played before and after the titles to a blank or captioned screen. The core film is 139m NTSC = 133m PAL

Worldwide: The film premiered in a longer version that Kubrick chose to shorten for theatrical release. From IMDb:
The film originally premiered at 160
minutes. After the premiere, director Stanley Kubrick removed about 19 minutes' worth of scenes and made a few changes:
Some shots from the "Dawn of Man" sequence were removed and a new scene was inserted where an ape pauses with the bone it is about to use as a tool. The new scene was a low-angle shot of the monolith, done in order to
portray and clarify the connection between the man-ape using the tool and the monolith.
Some shots of Frank Poole jogging in the centrifuge were removed.
An entire sequence of
several shots in which Dave Bowman searches for the replacement antenna part in storage was removed.
A scene where HAL severs radio communication between the "Discovery" and Poole's pod before killing him
was removed. This scene explains a line that stayed in the film in which Bowman addresses HAL on the subject.
Some shots of Poole's space walk before he is killed were removed.
