This store is situated just off the A1 motorway on
the North Bound carriageway. I think this used to be a restaurant or
something like that as the location is not your usual place for a Adult
Located next to a petrol station, it is signed, but
only just before the turn off into the car park. Plenty of parking
spaces. If you want to be little more discreet or are a bit nervous of
being seen heading to an adult shop, then I suggest you park around the
side of the store
The store is large, open plan and it seemed well
organised and set out.
Plenty of choice of sexy clothing, sex toys and R18
DVD's. DVD's had been separated in genres and the choice was good. A
television at the back of the store was playing some R18 Movie which
caught my eye.
The DVD's are not cheap at £30 each, but the prices
are pretty much the same across any location now. They do discount deals
if you buy several DVD's and you're feeling flush.
When I visited this store I was the only person
there. The female member of staff was reading something at the counter.
I said Hello and she replied. I was looking around the store around 10
minutes she never once came over to speak with me.
I am used to the usual If you need any help
speech but didn't even get that. I did have a few questions but decided
to leave it.
The Location is rather unusual, but if you are
travelling on the A1 its probably worth a stop.
I didn't bother me in the slightest that the staff
didn't ask me if I wanted any help, but this would of been nice.
Worth a visit if you're passing.
Erotique 4 You
448 Ashley Road
The shop applied for a sex shop licence in February 2010.
From Erotique 4 You, February 2010:
Erotique4you is a new shop open in Parkstone with a large selection of
sexy dance wear, lingerie and lots more…
Opened in May 2013. Moved to Bournemouth in September 2014
The shop has a novel approach to hurrying up long
time browsers by suggesting that they risk being reported to police as
potential perverts along with CCTV footage. Hopefully tongue in cheek, but
in Stasi Britain one can never be quite sure that there isn't an element
There was a good range of R18 material available,
amounting to 350 video and another 350 DVD titles according to the staff
with more expected soon. There was also a fair selection of sex toys and
The two male staff were very friendly and unassuming and quite willing to
let people browse on their own or provide advise if requested. Portsmouth
City Council's foolish provision that *anyone* entering the shop *must* show
proof of age had already been abandoned by the time I arrived at midday, which
was a shame as no one has asked me for proof of age for more than 20 years.
The DVD's and Video's are expensive with every one marked up at £40, but
there are also numerous offers available such as 2 for £60, 4 for £100,
bundled packs of 10 for £60 and 20 for £100. There is also 50% off for part
exchange (with receipt) and it is well worth asking to see what other offers
they are willing to make. I bought Private Gladiator parts 1 and 2 (3 discs)
Overall a bit expensive, but still worth a visit and
definitely a massive improvement over previously.
Licensed and trading since December 2001. Moved to new premises on the
same street in 2013. Previously known as The Adult Shop.
Review from ETO's Mystery Shopper, August 2017: Cluttered
The shop was busy perhaps due to R18s being priced at £20 each or 3
Magazines are also on sale but the shop is a little cluttered.
From The Adult Shop:
recently been extended and a new toys and clothes section has been fitted with a new
fantastic dolls selection extended. With all the new videos, dvds and mags there's
something for everyone so come and meet our friendly staff who will be happy to meet you!
Visited recently, NOT as stated in description by owner: one to avoid...Poor customer
service...when will people learn that politeness and friendliness are the key to selling,
not haggling and cynicism...
64 Lancaster Road
Mon-Sat 9.30-6pm (Fri. 8pm)
Licensed since 2001
Review from ETO's Mystery Shopper, August 2017: A good
range of DVDs
A good range of R18 DVDs with most at £25 or 3 for £50. There
were also videos at £15 and £10 with equivalent multi-buy deals.
The location is good being close to the town centre.
March 2014: Sign of the Times
The request for new signage was rejected by Preston Council. Vice
chairman, Councillor Carl Crompton, spouted:
If it hadn't had the couple on it would have
gone through. But with the couple in, some of the members thought it
could possibly lead to younger children asking questions that the
adults might not want to answer. It was just inappropriate for
something that's opposite the Town Hall and one of the main
thoroughfares through the city.
News March 2014: New Signage
The shop has applied to the council for new signage. The council have
asked the shop to be more discreet than at present.
